___
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the
passing of Marian Maxine (Mounce) Voyles, beloved
Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, into the
hands of the Lord July 29, 2012. She died peacefully
with her family at her side.
Maxine was born May 29th, 1925 in Jackson County
Missouri to Mikel Mounce and Johanna (Nagle) Mounce.
Maxine was a candy Striper at one of Lincoln’s
hospitals and worked at The Mill in Lincoln in the
early 1940’s. She met her future husband, Wilbur
“Red” Voyles at a party in his honor as he prepared
to leave to serve in WWII. They married in April
1945. He preceded her in death (Sept 29, 1978). She
was a homemaker early in their marriage raising 5
children – Sherry, Gitana, Wilinda (Linny), Jamie,
and Perry. She found the time to be a brownie leader
in the 50’s, and after the children were in school,
Maxine worked at ALMH in the housekeeping department
for over 25 years. She loved being outside tending
to her flowers or working in her garden. She spent
many a summer canning the produce from her garden or
items given her by neighbors. She had a smile that
could light up the room and she loved a good laugh.
She had a beautiful voice love to sing around the
house. She was a breast cancer survivor. She was a
member of the Lincoln Christian Church and Park
Meadows Baptist Church during her life in Lincoln,
and frequently attended Immanuel Lutheran Church.
