Florence E. Gandt, 92, of Lincoln, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at
12:45 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

LINCOLN-Florence E. Gandt, 92, of Lincoln passed
away on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 12:45 pm at Abraham
Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln, IL.
Florence was born on February 6, 1920 in Lincoln, IL
the daughter of Richard and Bertha Buchholz Gandt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three
sisters: Frances McBenge; Leona Turner and Emma
Gandt; one brother Raymond Gandt. She was the last
of her immediate family.

Florence was survived by nieces and nephews: Edna
(Wayne) Mara; Esther
(Wayne) Denney; Ray (Carol) Turner; Cliff McBenge;
Bill McBenge; Cheryl (Jim) Scales; and Donna (Randy)
Buse and several great nieces and nephews and great
great nieces and nephews.
Florence was retired from Kroger’s after 32 years as
head checker. She was a member of St. John United
Church of Christ.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 10,
2012 at 10:30 a.m. at New Union Cemetery, Lincoln,
with Rev. Richard Reinwald officiating. Burial will
follow. There will be no visitation. Memorials may
be given to St. John United Church of Christ,
Lincoln. Services were entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, IL.
The family would like to extend a gracious thank you
to Dr. Sagins and the second floor nursing staff of
Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Lincoln.
