During the evening there was a memorial service for the
following deceased members: LuAnn Froschauer, Lois Kavelman and
Viola Jane Yeazle. The unit donated an additional $100 to the
scholarship fund.
Tecia Hennessey, Poppy Days chairman, reminded members about the
annual event, which will be on Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and on
Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. All members are urged to help.
Members were given an update on the upcoming Memorial Day
activities, which are open to the public. The Memorial Day service
will be at 10:30 a.m., and the post members will serve ham and beans
following the service.
The balloon launch will be at 1 p.m. It was reported that
currently there are over 2,200 names of veterans to be honored.
Hennessey announced that the cutoff date to submit a veteran's
name for a balloon is Friday. She will be at the American Legion
till 9 p.m. to take names.
Suzann Lolling, unit president, announced that there will be a
"Freedom Pre-Launch Party" at the American Legion on Sunday from 7
to 9 p.m. for the "workers" for the weekend's festivities.
Lolling also reported that on Memorial Day, the unit will have a
bake sale and a 50-50 raffle. Members were reminded that all workers
are to be at the Legion at 7 a.m. Monday.
