Lewis C. Horton, 92, of Lincoln, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at
10:10 p.m. at The Christian Village.

LINCOLN-Lewis C. Horton, 92, of Lincoln died at
10:10 p.m. October 29, 2012 at Christian Village.
Lewis was born on December 12, 1919 at Amazonia, MO
the son of Lovell and Emily Elizabeth Wiseman
Horton. He married Ilah Mae Busby on September 5,
1943 at Evanston, WY. She survives in Lincoln.
Lewis is survived by one son: William (Lana) Horton
of Forsyth, IL; one daughter: Marcia (Steve)
Vandever of Broken Arrow, OK; four grandchildren;
and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in
death by his parents and one brother, Billy Horton,
who was killed In W.W. II.

Mr. Horton is a retired manager of the J.C. Penney
Co. in Lincoln and Louisiana, MO and worked at the
J.C. Penney stores in Kenosha and Milwaukee, WI. He
served in the U.S. Army as a medic during W.W. II;
member of Lincoln Rotary Club and served as Past
President; Organized and directed Logan County Men’s
Glee club. He had been choir director at First
United Methodist Church; and was very involved with
the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce; and he help start
the United Way in Lincoln.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 2, 2012 at
10:30 a.m. at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home,
Lincoln with Rev. Floyd Blackard and Ryan Edgecombe
officiating. Burial will be at New Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
Memorials may be given to First United Methodist
Church or to the donor’s choice.
