Stroke is a leading cause of death in the United States. Every year,
about 895,000 people in the U.S. have a stroke. During the
90-minute session, "Advances in Stroke Treatment and Recovery,"
three medical experts in stroke will discuss how to recognize the
signs and symptoms of stroke, evaluation and management,
neurointerventional treatment options, and rehabilitation and
recovery.
The participating physicians are Drs. Sajjad Mueed with SIU
HealthCare and medical director of the Memorial Stroke Center;
Augusto Elias, a neurointerventional radiologist with Clinical
Radiologists; and David Gelber with Springfield Clinic Neurology and
medical director of inpatient rehabilitation at Memorial Medical
Center.
