[October 20, 2012]  MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AP) -- Nigeria's military says soldiers arrested a member of the radical Islamist sect Boko Haram at a prominent senator's home.

Military spokesman Lt. Col. Sagir Musa issued a statement late Friday saying soldiers caught Shuaibu Muhammed Bama "in a serving senator's home."

The only senator who has a home in the area where Bama was arrested is Sen. Ahmed Zanna of Nigeria's National Assembly. Zanna and his officials in his office could not be immediately reached for comment Saturday morning.

This is not the first time a serving senator has been accused of being in league with Boko Haram. Sen. Mohammed Ali Ndume was arrested in November and faces charges over being involved with the group.

Boko Haram is launching an increasingly bloody guerrilla fight against Nigeria's weak central government.
