Indeed, hundreds and hundreds of friends,
neighbors, well-wishers and supporters appeared at the Legion in
Mount Pulaski -- once again voicing their condolences and all
digging into their wallets and purses -- besides enjoying the delicious soup supper, which included
sandwiches, drinks and scrumptious homemade desserts. One in
attendance remarked that it was so wonderful to see so much love and
caring by so many people in the same place at one time. Four St.
Louis Cardinal tickets, a very large Chicago Cubs memorabilia
basket
and a round of 18 holes of golf at Lincoln Elks were just three of
oodles of silent auction items available, while an ongoing raffle
of heaps of donated merchandise and gift certificates was conducted.
One after another, announcements of winners were blared out
on the loudspeaker system throughout the evening. Many businesses,
families and individuals from Mount Pulaski and far and wide provided
the auction and raffle items.
Proceeds of the supper will go to the youth group of the Mount Pulaski-Chestnut-Latham United Methodist Church, with the income from the
silent auction and raffles going to the fund for the Annabelle Phillips family.
A table was also set up for monetary donations to the fund for the
Phillips family.
