Oasis Senior Center finds a temporary home

secured a temporary home following the devastating fire at its
building on the evening of June 21. As of July 15, St. John United

extending protective services to some people with disabilities
SPRINGFIELD -- Illinois Department on
Aging Director John K. Holton, Ph.D., kicked off Elder Abuse
Awareness and Prevention Month in Illinois. Elder abuse refers to a
negligent act -- physical, sexual, emotional, confinement, passive
neglect, willful deprivation or financial exploitation -- by a
caregiver or another person known by the victim that causes harm or
a serious risk of harm to a vulnerable adult 60 years of age or
older.

SPRINGFIELD -- Generations ago,
retirement was thought of as a time to take it easy -- a time of
rocking on porch chairs and reminiscing about the good old days. But
that's not the case with the current generation of retirees. In
fact, many older people today continue to rock on. Just look at some
of the superstars touring and performing concerts this year who are
old enough to collect Social Security retirement payments. They're
still rocking, but not in chairs.
