Late last week Mayor Keith Snyder, representing the city of Lincoln, and Tom O'Donohue, representing the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County, shared that the Tropics restaurant building has been sold. The sellers have given the original Tropics sign to the city. O'Donohue and Snyder said the sign will be restored and a new home found for it because the Tropics played a key role in Logan County's Route 66 history.
The sign at its best was covered
with neon lighting. O'Donohue said neon is expensive, and it may take a
while to get the money together for the restoration. In the meantime, the
sign will be carefully stored so as to prevent any further damage. Jeff and Tricia HaleyC
