Logan County Special Olympians compete in bowling tournament this weekend

[August 21, 2014]  CENTRAL ILLINOIS SPECIAL OLYMPICS - Central Illinois Special Olympics is proud to announce the annual bowling meet will be held Saturday August 23rd, 2014.

Spare Time Lanes is the site for over 200 athletes from four counties, (Christian, Logan, Macon, and Moultrie County to participate in the event. These participants have been training all spring and summer.

Olympians will bowl three games in an attempt to win a gold medal in their division. There will be Singles, Doubles, Team and Ramp competition. The awards ceremonies will be a highlight of the day for our Olympians. This year’s meet is dedicated to an athlete who recently passed away. The Bill Seeforth memorial award will be given to a bowling athlete who demonstrates courage, determination and sportsmanship through out the year as well as the Pat Hurt-Cerny award and the Russ Dash award for most pins bowled over average.

Athletes and volunteers will enjoy donuts and juice in the morning provided by the Golden K’s and a lunch provided to all athletes and volunteers compliments of the Knights of Columbus.

Central Illinois Special Olympics is sponsored by the Decatur Knights of Columbus Council #577 Members of the Decatur Women’s Bowling Association, Decatur Bowling Association who cooperate to run this tournament along with the the AMBUCS, the Golden K’s and many other dedicated volunteers, sponsor Central Illinois Special Olympics.

Opening ceremonies will begin at 8:30 a.m. with competition immediately following. Everyone is welcome to come and cheer on our Special Olympians!
