[December 11, 2014]  "A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies." (Proverbs 14:5, KJV)

A Congressional hearing was held to hear the truth about Jonathan Gruber who was a chief part of the development of the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare. In a litany of video statements he repeatedly called the American people "stupid" and inferred the government health plan could be built with many components unpopular with most citizens because they were too "stupid" to know the difference.

In the Congressional hearing where Mr. Gruber was subjected to the microscope of the Congressional leaders who tried to hold him accountable for his characterization of the American's citizens' intelligence level, we were able to see that his witness was of the false witness kind. Even with profuse apologies springing forth from his lips, he continued to cite his comments had nothing to do with the content of the Affordable Care Act.

Since he repeatedly made claims that the entire structure of the Obama health insurance plan was built on a foundation that is at best detrimental to the average citizen, and at worst downright destructive to the working citizen, we witnessed his attempts to evade the questions and shield himself from the very words he spoke. He has proved to be a "witness of falsehood" as he spoke to the members of Congress. One might have thought perhaps his presence in Congress would have been a good time for him to come clean and stop living a lie of deceit for his actions of trying to shift his folly to the American people. Although he offered an apology for his words, words he used several different times in several different venues, and concluded he was "embarrassed" by his comments, it still left one doubting if he was sorry for what he said, or sorry he had been caught.

[to top of second column]

This entire episode of lies, cover-up activities, misrepresentation of truth to the American people, and attempts by government officials to foist off onto the American people more government controlling regulations, policies and laws that hurt rather than protect, is further evidence our government needs to be watched more closely than the government is watching the people. When government tries to build on a foundation of deception, secrecy, lies, and complete disregard for the citizens of the country, it becomes necessary for citizens to become more vigilant in holding government officials accountable for their actions.

As the Administration, Congress, or any politician for that matter, continues to use their positions of power to manipulate others for selfish gain, there is always a day of reckoning that comes. It is always best to live the life of a faithful witness. "But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out." (Numbers 32:23, KJV)
