The
mighty have fallen

In
2007 and 2008 when the President was a candidate running for
President he was described by Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid as
being a "light skinned African-American with no Negro dialect,
unless he wanted to have one." In the same manner Joe Biden said of
Barak Obama, he was "clean and articulate." These two comments about
the President were documented in a book entitled, Game Change" by
Mark Halperin and John Heilemann. They were actually meant to be
compliments; compliments that later required apologies. The
candidate Obama went on to be President Obama. |
I listened live to a campaign speech in Indianapolis, Indiana in
2008 as I attended a rally when the President was a candidate. There
were thousands of people standing with me on Meridian Street in the
two-square-block space next to the War Memorial who were listening
to the man speaking with words that caused them to sway back and
forth proclaiming him the "Messiah" who would bring "hope and
change" to the masses. It was an amazing experience, watching people
actually lift their hands toward heaven and worship the man speaking
with promises to "grow the wealth from the bottom up, returning the
wealth of America to the rightful owners." People around me were
crying as they praised the man who had become their savior.
After six short years we can wonder how is it the mighty have
fallen. With the experiment in social welfare programs leaning
toward socialism with overtones of communism, a series of scandals
with clear cover-ups, a lack of transparency, venture capitalism,
gigantic corporate bail-outs, government departments used as
punishment tools against Administration's "enemies," and foreign
affairs around the world seemingly in shambles resulting in
America's loss of face, and at least one government consultant
repeatedly calling the American citizen "stupid." Is it any wonder
the "hope and change" promised resulted in six years as a complete
house cleaning with a loss of majority standing?

Perhaps the
lesson learned from this somewhat rough ride to attempt to import
socialism to America by a popular leader thought by some to be a
"Messiah" has opened the eyes of a majority of voting Americans to
the failure socialism actually is. It seems almost beyond belief
there are still some who may believe in the growth of government,
implementation of socialistic policies, a continued debt-laden
economy, and major tax increases loaded with massive regulatory
policies to stifle growth. It would be an advantage to those who
have their eyes on being the next POTUS to let this lesson of the
past six years burn indelibly into their thinking process.
