Today's weird weather picture. So what is so weird about a guy out kayaking in February? A lot of times it has been plenty warm enough for someone to get out on the creek, river or lake in a boat. But this year, Matt Whitson is kayaking in his farm field! Whitson, who has farm ground between Mount Pulaski and Niantic, got the kayak as a Christmas gift, and Sunday he decided it would be a perfect way to go out and check his fields, because they are under water from rain and melting snow. The bad news is that more snow may be headed our way and colder temperatures. As the end of February is quickly approaching, the question becomes, will March come in like a lion or a lamb? Right now the odds seem to be in favor of lion.

Here is more living proof that Logan County kids are really exceptional. When fourth-grader Alex Hoffert came up with idea for a special fundraiser to benefit St. Jude's Hospital, his entire class was excited to get involved. The class made rubber band bracelets and sold them at school. Alex's parents donated all the supplies for the bracelets, so every cent earned was given to St. Jude's. Read more about this in the Teaching & Learning section below.

In the last 24 hours our snow pile really hasn't changed much. What we did notice was that there are holes in the pile from the top highest peak to the ground. We wonder if someone decided to climb our mountain? The big fear now is that there could be more accumulating snow on the way over the next few days, and our pile may be getting a new white coat.

Congratulations to the Hartsburg-Emden seventh-grade volleyball team!  Hartem defeated West Lincoln-Broadwell on Saturday for the 7A county championship. Their final two game scores were 25-20 and  25-7.
