If you happened to look in the driver's seat of the snowplow going past your house this week, you might have seen Lincoln Police Department Chief Ken Greenslate behind the wheel!  Last week when city officials began preparing for the snow, wind and extreme cold, they realized that they didn't have the manpower they needed to plow city streets. Officials quickly came up with a plan. They sought out other city employees who had a CDL license and some plowing experience and put together a team that could work together to get the bulk of the snow off the city streets.

Tremont High School under lockdown

Reports have come in that Tremont High School, southwest of Morton, is currently under lockdown. Authorities say that students are not in danger; this is just a precaution as the Illinois State Police conduct a search of the school.

Earlier today an unspecified number of unspent .22-caliber bullets were found in one of the hallways of the school. No weapons have been discharged and there is no immediate cause for concern, according to officials.
