It has taken a few years to accomplish, but Monday evening with eight aldermen present at the Lincoln City Council, they approved by unanimous vote the immediate demolition of the property at 127 S. Sangamon Street. The low bid on the project came in at just over $59,000, about $19,000 more than expected. However, aldermen agreed this building is a danger to the community, and it must come down. Mayor Keith Snyder said he felt confident money could be found in the budget to cover the increased cost. Photos by Nila Smith (Click on image for larger version.) |
