LINCOLN - Berneda L. Biggs, 96, of Palm
Coast, Fl., formerly of Lincoln passed away on Wednesday, June 4,
2014 at her home. Funeral Arrangements are pending at the Peasley
Funeral Home in Lincoln. |

Obituary
Berneda L. "Birdie" Biggs, 96, of Palm Coast,
Fl., passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at
her home surrounded by family.
A Memorial Service for Mrs. Biggs will be held
at a later date. Cremation Rites have been
accorded.
Berneda Lois Biggs was born on June 6, 1917, in
rural Easton, the daughter of Thomas Cook Stout
and Sarah Rebecca White Stout.
She is survived by one son: Milton Lee Biggs of
Lincoln, one daughter: Barbara Ann Biggs Canaday
of Palm Coast, Fl.
Three grandchildren: Michael E. Canaday, Lisa
Marie Rowe, Jeremy Lee Biggs. One great
grandson: Jadyn Demetrius. And many nieces and
nephews.
Berneda was the last surviving member of her
immediate family. She was preceded in death by
her nine siblings: Louis Joseph Stout, Dewey
Thomas Stout, Golda Frances McCallister, Irene
Mae Carpenter, Karrie Belle Purdue, John William
Stout, Earl Howard Stout, Eunice Pearl Stout,
Dwayne Harrison Stout.

She was a
charter member of the Lincoln Church of the
Nazarene where she taught Sunday School,
was a member of the church board, and Song
Leader for many years. She loved her Church
Family and wanted to serve in any capacity
through the years. She loved to sing and sang at
a variety of churches in Illinois and on the
local radio church programs.
She worked at Gullets Greenhouse for many years,
until its closing, in the roses department and
making corsages. She retired from the
housekeeping department at Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital after working there for many
years.
Memorials may be made to either the Church of
the Nazarene, Gentiva Hospice, or Safe Haven
Hospice.
Peasley Funeral Home is in charge of local
arrangements.
