Tuesday morning Lori Younkers and Marlise Wachter of the American Lung Association paid a visit to the Lincoln CVS store. The purpose of their trip was so say a personal “Thank-you!” to the store manager for being a part of the CVS/Caremark corporate pledge to stop selling tobacco products in all their stores. Pictured above are Ashley Sutton, Wachter, Younkers, and Eric Anderson. Anderson is the store manager and Sutton was one of the clerks on duty Tuesday morning.

At the Tuesday evening committee of the whole meeting of the Lincoln city council Mayor Keith Snyder told the aldermen that Moses Pinkerton, with the help and support of Main Street Lincoln has raised the needed funds to create a new statue for the city.  Pinkerton wants to erect the large statue entitled “Cow in the corn” on property near the Lincoln Depot.  Snyder suggested that there is currently a sculpture at the north end of the Busby Turner Park on Sangamon Street, and the new statue could go on the south end of the same park.  The city will pay only for the cost of the concrete pad for the structure.
