ATLANTA —
Leonard M. Purlee, 59, of Atlanta passed away on Friday, February
28, 2014 at his home.

Atlanta- Leonard M. Purlee, 59, of Atlanta passed
away on Friday, February 28, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services for Mr. Purlee will be held on
Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 11:00a.m. at the Quiram
Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta with Mr. Luke
Welchel officiating.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014 at the funeral home.
Burial will follow the services at the Atlanta
Cemetery.
Leonard Melvin Purlee was born on June 20, 1954 the
son of Clarence Melvin. and Emma Jean Zinn Purlee.
He was united in marriage to Marie Elizabeth (Libby)
Welchel on June 11, 1977. She survives.
Also surviving are his sister Kathy Ann Purlee of
Atlanta, 19 nieces and nephews, 27 great nieces and
nephews, and a great great niece and nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Leo was an avid sports fan who closely followed his favorite teams: the
St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and the Los Angeles Lakers. He
spent thirty years employed by Smurfit Stone Container before retiring
in 2012. His favorite pastimes were attending auctions, and checking up
on his family. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and friend who
will be greatly missed by all.
