The deal, if completed, would be the largest in major-league
history. The largest current contract is the 10-year, $292 million
deal the Tigers gave to Miguel Cabrera.
The reported numbers on Stanton's expected deal keep rising. On
Thursday, the Marlins and Stanford were discussing a 10-year, $300
million deal. Friday morning, it was up to 12 years and $320
million.
Stanton, 25, still has two seasons remaining on his current
contract. Assuming the new contract covers the two remaining years,
Stanton would be locked in until he is 37 years old in 2027.
