[October 07, 2014]  In the 10/6/2014 edition of the Lincoln, Illinois paper edition of the Lincoln Courier a report from The Associated Press was printed with the headline, "Cost to rebuild Gaza? $4 billion, political will." The essence of the story was the rebuilding of the Gaza Strip after the war between Hamas and Israel. Of course we have all read accounts in the newspapers and watched the news on television of the war that had to be fought by Israel since Hamas was sending dozens of rockets into Israel cities on a daily basis. Hamas had constructed highly technological and fortified tunnels from the Gaza Strip under the borders into Israel as a launch platform for attacks into Israel where they attacked and killed civilians, kidnapped citizens to be held for ransom, and raped the women. With the resulting defense mounted by Israel, the report stated that "tens of thousands of people whose homes were destroyed or badly damaged in the fighting still live in classrooms, storefronts and other crowded shelters."

Now the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, seeking to obtain funding for rebuilding the Gaza Strip, has estimated a need of four billion dollars to rebuild and repair at least 60,000 homes and 5,000 businesses. Of course the United Nations will be at the crux of the rebuilding program. Likely managing the funding and ensuring the materials are actually used in reconstruction of homes and businesses rather than rebuilding the tunnels used for war. There is definitely a humanitarian element that can be clearly seen in the efforts to secure funding and rebuild the lost homes and shelter, along with the rebuilding of the businesses to stimulate commerce for sustained family lifestyles. For sure Americans, as well, or more than any, believe in humanitarian causes and will usually run to the rescue. But, before we do, perhaps a close look at the elements of this effort should be examined.

Hamas is part of a radical Islamic sect that has stated their goal is to eliminate Israel from the planet. Their hatred for the Americans is just as strong, with Israel being the "little" Satan; while America is the "great" Satan. For generations the Palestinians have fought the Israeli people. Their plan is to kill as many Israelis as they can. They view America as a supporter of Israel and a supplier of the tools for Israel to fight back to keep themselves from being annihilated. The entire Middle East, as well as Northern Africa, with the Islamic jihad and established caliphate with ISIL is determined to destroy all remnants of Israeli presence in the Region. Children are born into the Muslim families to be raised with the same hatred toward Israel the parent have. They are taught from birth onward to engage in activities that strictly oppose co-existence with Israel. With what we see in the news now with the atrocities committed by the ISIL movement through Syria and Iraq with beheadings, raping, crucifixions, firing squads, kidnappings, and outright murders, it produces a completely socialized life-style of a population of a culture-group that wages jihad against others with a different ideological viewpoint.

Now, when the Islamic viewpoint of jihad clashes with any opposing viewpoint that is defined as "infidels" with the requirement of killing all who hold counter viewpoints, it becomes difficult for those who have defended themselves against such radicals to turn around after they have been beaten back from the most recent attack, to move in and rescue them by rebuilding their cities and capabilities to wage war again. Politicians have a way of making it sound like it is a responsibility for the rest of the world to provide "humanitarian" care and help for those who have willingly waged war and lost the battle. They cite Western Europe after World War II as a rebuilding plan such as the Marshal Plan. We have to remember, however, historically when the world was at war with clashing ideologies in the decade of the 1930s and 1940s, when the war ended it was a definite, total defeat of the aggressive ideology of the fascists and Nazis was completed before the rebuilding was begun.

[to top of second column]

Rebuilding is for the "ground-level citizen" who wants to live life in peace and harmony with their neighbors. It is not for the leaders whose ideology continues to foster the practice of terror and destruction. The war in the Middle East with Hamas, Palestinians, ISIS, ISIL, Taliban, and Al Qaida has not been won by any means. Contrary to the belief of the President and his administration Al Qaida, nor the Taliban has not been "decimated." That group of radial, Islamic terrorism jihadists has continued to wage war and will continue to do so until their last "infidel" enemy is dead. With each battle they lose they cry "humanitarianism" to the world and want the funding to rebuild. But, when they receive the money to rebuild they simply turn it into weapons of war and start over. That pattern has been established and maintained for centuries.

The question then, is, "Why do we play into that and give billions of dollars toward such a rebuilding effort?" In today's geo-political world, especially through the United Nations, when billions of dollars are handed over to such a cause it is usually done with very little accountability. We have seen time and again the money and supplies being squandered by the leaders of all the countries involved. Just because Americans on a local level have every intent of giving their hard-earned cash to the government in the form of taxes to be used in a humanitarian venture, it rarely ever gets translated into the resources reaching directly to the people on the ground level. Everything has to be filtered through the government officials along the pathway of the money being raised up and the money being spent down. That money gets filtered in hundreds of ways with only pennies on the dollar reaching the masses who actually need houses and businesses rebuilt.

Therefore, before the United States taxpayer signs on to giving the politicians billions of dollars to rebuild the terrorist ideology groups to re-strengthen them, they need to remember the strength they regain will likely be used against America and her ally Israel.
