The City of Lincoln Fire chief, Mark Miller, visits with students from Zion Lutheran School Monday morning at the city firehouse. The students were invited for a morning of activities that included a pancake breakfast, lessons of fire safety, prevention, and the importance of smoke alarms. They also were given a tour of the fire station upstairs area and had the opportunity to shoot water at the "squirt house." LDN will have more great shots from the day in the Wednesday edition.

Midwest Central School in Manito was recently awarded a grant of $10,000 through the Monsanto "America's Farmers Grow Rural Education" fund. The money will be used to equip the school with 32 Chromebook computers. Pictured above on the far left is Todd Hellrigel, Midwest Central superintendent. In the center of the picture is Dee Hohenshell, school librarian and on the far right is Derek Struebing of Monsanto. Joining in the picture are various FFA students representing the many farmers that nominated Midwest Central for the grant.

Lincoln Youth Football 2nd/3rd grade champions beat Athens 14-8 finishing with a 7-1 record. This team was under direction of Coach of the Year, Shaun Worth aka 'Coach Peaches.'
