New York Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, who has not pitched since July 8 because of a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament, threw five scoreless innings in an instructional league game at the Yankees' minor-league complex in Tampa, Fla., on Monday afternoon.

He gave up six hits and struck out four and could make his next start for the Yankees this weekend, depending on how he feels Tuesday.

"It's a possibility," Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild said.

---New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey, who is coming off Tommy John surgery, threw off the Citi Field mound for the first time since he was injured last August. He threw his entire arsenal, except for the slider, during a simulated game. Harvey will be shut down for the rest of the season but will enter spring training with no restrictions.

--Cleveland Indians outfielder Ryan Raburn is experiencing continuing soreness after hyperextending his left knee at Detroit on Saturday. Manager Terry Francona revealed that the team is considering sending Raburn to Cleveland for an examination.

---Atlanta Braves catcher Evan Gattis missed his seventh straight game with strep throat.

---Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, who suffered multiple facial fractures when he was hit by a pitch last Thursday, is scheduled for more doctor's appointments on Tuesday. Stanton still hopes to return this season.

---Baltimore Orioles suspended first baseman Chris Davis will go down to Sarasota, Fla., over the weekend to start working out down there. He's serving the 25-game suspension that was handed down last week and wouldn't be able to come back until at least midway through the ALCS, if the Orioles make it that far.

---Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo returned to the lineup for the first time since injuring his back late last month.

Rizzo, who has 30 home runs, missed 18 games.
