			 Tigers 4, Twins 2 
 Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez hit home runs and Max Scherzer 
			picked up his 18th victory to lead Detroit to a victory over the 
			Minnesota Twins that protected the Tigers' two-game lead in the 
			American League Central.
 
 Scherzer (18-5) pitched just one clean inning -- the first -- and 
			got into serious trouble in the fifth when the Twins scored both of 
			their runs, but he lasted six innings.
 
 Right-handers Joakim Soria, Joba Chamberlain and Joe Nathan worked 
			one inning each to close out the win, with Nathan getting his 34th 
			save.

 Pirates 10, Braves 1
 
 The Pittsburgh Pirates will go into the final weekend of the regular 
			season trailing the first-place St. Louis Cardinals by one game in 
			the National League Central after routing Atlanta.
 
 Right-hander Edison Volquez allowed four hits over seven scoreless 
			innings and third baseman Josh Harrison went 3-for-5 to take over 
			the lead in the National League batting race.
 
			
			 
 Harrison is batting .319 to lead Colorado's Justin Morneau (.317).
 
 The Pirates (87-72) finish with three games at Cincinnati, while the 
			Cardinals (88-71) are at Arizona.

 Royals 6, White Sox 3
 
 Eric Hosmer hit a game-tying home run in the fifth inning and Kansas 
			City ended the game with five unanswered runs to move ever closer to 
			the playoffs.
 
 They did clinch at least a tie for the second wild-card spot in the 
			AL with the Seattle Mariners (84-75), who staved off elimination on 
			Thursday by beating the Toronto Blue Jays.
 
 Seattle remains three games back of the Royals (87-72) in the chase 
			for the second wild card and each team has three games left.
 
 The Royals also remain two games behind first in the AL Central 
			because the Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins.

 Rangers 2, Athletics 1
 
 Adrian Beltre's home run off Luke Gregerson in the bottom of the 
			ninth inning lifted the Texas Rangers to a victory over the Oakland 
			Athletics.
 
 Oakland fell one game behind the Kansas City Royals (87-72) for the 
			first AL wild-card. In the race for the second wild card, the A's 
			are two games ahead of the Seattle Mariners (84-75) and three ahead 
			of the Cleveland Indians (83-76).
 
 All four teams have three games remaining.

			Yankees 6, Orioles 5
 
 Derek Jeter created one last magic moment in his home finale as the 
			retiring Yankees captain hit the game-winning single in the bottom 
			of the ninth inning as New York beat the Baltimore Orioles.
 
 The Yankees blew a three-run lead in the top of the ninth before 
			Jeter's clutch hit.
 
 Jeter will play his final series against the Boston Red Sox.
 
 Baltimore have already clinched the AL East.

			Mariners 7, Blue Jays 5
 Logan Morrison homered twice and drove in four runs as the Seattle 
			Mariners defeated the Toronto Blue Jays.
 
 Third baseman Kyle Seager drove in two runs with two singles for the 
			Mariners that kept their slim playoff hopes alive as they trail the 
			wild card by two games with three to play.

			Mets 7, Nationals 4 (First game)
 Matt den Dekker had a two-out, tie-breaking RBI single in the eighth 
			inning off reliever Tyler Clippard and the New York Mets lashed out 
			15 hits to beat the Washington in the first game of a doubleheader.
 
 Right fielder Curtis Granderson added three hits and three RBIs for 
			the Mets.

 Nationals 3, Mets 0 (Second game)
 
 Left-hander Gio Gonzalez allowed just one hit in seven innings and 
			fanned a career-high 12 batters as the Washington Nationals beat the 
			New York Mets to earn a split of the doubleheader.
 
 The Nationals (93-65) took another step closer to locking up 
			home-field advantage for the NL playoffs in the late game and need 
			to win one game in their doubleheader against the Marlins on Friday.

 Reds 5, Brewers 3
 
 Brandon Phillips, batting leadoff for the first time this season, 
			went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBIs, lifting the Cincinnati 
			Reds to a victory over the Milwaukee Brewers.
 
 
			 
			Milwaukee (81-78) were eliminated from post season contention with 
			the loss after leading the NL Central by 6-1/2 games on July 1.
 
 Second baseman Rickie Weeks hit his eighth home run for the Brewers, 
			who committed three errors.

 Casey McGehee hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the seventh 
			inning, capping a four-run rally and leading the Miami Marlins to a 
			win over the Philadelphia Phillies.

 The Red Sox got the first career home runs from catcher Christian 
			Vazquez and center fielder Rusney Castillo and strong pitching from 
			rookie right-hander Allen Webster in their thrashing of the Tampa 
			Bay Rays.
 
 Vazquez went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, rookie second baseman Mookie 
			Betts had three hits and an RBI, fellow rookie left fielder Bryce
