Lincoln Fire Chief Mark Miller said that his department is thrilled with the
new fire protective clothing that have just arrived. The jackets and pants were purchased through a State Fire Marshall's grant and arrived just in time today to be tested when a lady pulled up in front of the fire station with her car on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries.

Thursday night a large crowd came out for Community Night at the park. This year’s event hosted by the city of Lincoln took place in Ray White Park at the corner of Madison and 11th Streets. The city of Lincoln Fire and Police Departments were on hand with their vehicles including the police Hummers, quite popular with the kids and maybe a few adults too. The fire department brought the water target house for kids to try their hand at putting out make belief fires. And, His Hands Outreach was there with face painting and games for the kids. There were free hot dogs, chips, and soda for everyone. A wide aray of sweets prepared by the city clerk’s office was popular with only a few crumbs remaining as dark closed in and the beautiful evening wound down.

Each week, the evening before game day is spent at long tables at the Immanuel Lutheran Church eating, talking, and relaxing.

“Thursday nights, we just come together,” senior defensive lineman Eric Sutton said. “We have a great dinner, (some) great fellowship, and have a great conversation.”
