November 3, 1963 a groundbreaking ceremony was held
for the first of several buildings that would begin
as the Christian Nursing Home in Lincoln and
eventually become the Christian Village. The
original nursing home opened its doors officially in
1965. This weekend the village will celebrate half a
century as “a demonstration of Christian concern in
brick-and-mortar terms.” Pictured above left to

Sunderland, Paul Churchill and Gerald Carter.
