As the Lincoln Community High School semester came to a close last week, students participating in Freshman Academy were looking forward to cashing in on their semester's achievements. The students in the program for at risk students were awarded daily with certificate dollars for good behaviors such as attendance, punctuality, homework and other efforts.

On Wednesday, teacher Michelle Hobbs with some assistance from other teachers organized the wide variety of wares they had attained for the students to purchase with their reward dollars.

Ms. Hobbs said that the business community was very generous with donations. Culvers, Wal-Mart, Stuffed Aria Pizza and others donated gift cards and Reeds Sporting Goods, Bloomington donated a wide variety of sportswear. Dr. Todd Krueger also made donations to the program. A number of other local businesses donated items as well, and a few people purchased and donated either goods or gift-cards to help reward the students for doing well in school this semester.

Decorative Christmas bags along the side of the room stood waiting to be filled with goods the students would choose this day.
