With the snip of a ribbon, a year of celebration begins at Lincoln College. With the original Charter for the college being approved by the Illinois General Assembly on February 6, 1865; Friday was the true 150th anniversary of the college's Charter Day, first called Lincoln University. The celebration will continue with several events throughout the year. This weekend, on Sunday there will be a Charter Day program held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Johnston Center for Performing Arts. The public is invited to come join in the celebration. LDN will offer additional coverage of the ribbon cut and Sunday program in next week's editions.

Friday morning, the Blue Dog Inn in Lincoln was honored with the Illinois Tourism Bureau Delicious Destination Award. The award was presented to owner Barb Blackburn (holding certificate) and bar manager Susie Taylor by Logan County Tourism Director Sarah Wallick and Lincoln Mayor Keith Snyder. BLOOMINGTON-NORMAL - The Twin Cities’ annual Chinese New Year celebration takes place Sunday, February 8 at the Brown Ballroom in the Bone Student Center on the Illinois State University campus.

On Thursday night, the Carroll Crusaders, compiled of teams from Carroll Catholic, New Holland Middletown and Zion Lutheran Schools won their 8th Grade 8-1A Regional. The team will advance to Sectional play on Wednesday, February 11th at Our Lady of Lourdes in Decatur.
