At
the moment, it is a corn field, but in the not so
distant future this lot will be the location of the
city's street department facility. The ten acre lot
is located off Limit Street behind the parking lot
at Precision Products. On Monday evening, the
Lincoln City Council approved the purchase of the
lot. The relocation of the street department is
being forced on the city as part of an EPA order for
soil remediation at the former site. In that order,
Common Wealth Edison and Nicor Gas are required to
provide the city with a like-kind facility at a new
location. Therefore, those two companies will
ultimately pay for the property purchase for the
city.
