And, they're off! Saturday morning, the 4th of July activities in Lincoln kicked off with the 11th annual Children's Parade. While it is often referred to as a walking parade, there were several modes of transportation in the parade including bikes, trikes, scooters, strollers and even one pogo stick! The parade began at Scully Park on Decatur Street and ended at the Lincoln Park District.

Some readers may recall that on April 27th, LDN posted photos of the carriage house that had recently been moved to the J. W. Hawes Museum site in Atlanta. At the same time, LDN posted a story about grant awards given out by the Atlanta Betterment Fund. Among those awardees was the Atlanta Historic Commission, who was given $500. At that award reception, Billie Cheek of Atlanta said the money would go toward the restoration of the carriage house. One top priority for the building was a new roof. Recently LDN paid a visit to the carriage house and found that the new roof is now in place.
