On
Monday evening the only significant vote on the
agenda for the Lincoln City Council was an ordinance
to approve the purchase of property. The city is
being forced to move the Lincoln Street Department
from its Third Street location. An order issued by
the Environmental Protection Agency requires that
Common Wealth Edison and Nicor Gas relocate the city
department at their expense. Those two companies
have agreed to the purchase of property between
Limit and Pekin Streets at a cost of just over
$123,000. The two companies will also bear the cost
of construction for the new facility. The city will
retain ownership of the new property. For a
refresher on this,
