On
Friday morning, one of the many activities going on
at the Logan County Fair was the Department O
judging of candies, snack foods, and cakes. At the
end of the cake competition, Jeanne Runyon won the
Best of Show with her triple layer chocolate cake
with chocolate frosting. Jeanne also placed first in
the adult chocolate cake with chocolate frosting
category, which earned her the chance to participate
in the Cake Classic on Sunday. The baking for the
Cake Classic will take place at the fair in the
Lincoln Stage building. After baking the cakes, the
entries will be judged, then later in the afternoon
sold at auction.
Jeanne's award was presented to her by Miss Logan
County Fair Queen Michelle Paulus and Little Miss
Logan County Paisley Baker.

Trekking around the fairground this week, some folks may
have noticed the large hay bale sculptures that greeted
them in various places. This adorable pink pig, for
example, was on display at the west gate along with an
equally cute sheep.
The works of art are courtesy of the Logan County 4-H
clubs that were participating in a contest that visitors
to the fair could place a vote for their favorite piece
