In spite of the cold temperatures on Saturday, it wasn’t quite so bad with the sun shining and the wind somewhat calm when runners and walkers departed the starting line of the Honest Abe 5K hosted by the Lincoln Land CEO program. The race was part two of the CEO's Abe weekend in honor of Abraham Lincoln's 207th birthday. The night before, the group hosted an interactive dinner at Lincoln Christian University. A nice crowd turned out for both events, which were organized by the CEO as one of their business models for this year.

On Sunday, snow came into the area in two waves. During the night, an inch or so fell, but the snow stopped around 6 a.m. At 9 a.m. a second wave passed over dumping a couple more inches in Lincoln. At noon it was snowing hard enough that visibility, even in town, was low, but then it let up in the early afternoon. With the heaviest part of the snow starting after 9 a.m., city and state road plows held off their work until the snow began to let up in the afternoon and evening. For now, we're going to call this two snow events in one day which increases our season-long number to 14. To reach the goal of 22, we need 8 more snow events, not an unreasonable number considering that it is only the middle of February.
