At the end of the Logan County Alliance Annual Dinner on Thursday night, the Pride and Progress Awards were given out. The awards are given according to nominations by the public. For the second year the community was asked to nominate an Educator of the Year candidate, with the winner to be announced at the Logan County Alliance Annual Dinner. This year the winner of that honor was Kathy Stoyak, who teaches Spanish at Lincoln Community High School. As a portion of her introduction, emcee Jim Grimaldi, who was Stoyak's student, spoke in Spanish, and Stoyak acted as the interpreter. Stoyak was recognized for her outstanding relationship with her students, the way she has embraced and used new technology in her classroom, and the doors she has opened for her students as a dedicated teacher.
