Joe
Schaler, right visits with Josh Slightom Monday
evening at the Lincoln City Council meeting. Schaler
was there to garner support from the council for a
tax levy that will provide funding for a new
Veteran's Assistance Commission for Logan County. A
referendum will be on the ballot at next Tuesday
Primary Election, asking for approval of the levy,
which in the end will have no affect on the taxes
paid by Logan County residents.

Experts perplexed over why
Sharapova was taking banned heart drug

Sharapova of Russia wipes her face during her women's
singles match against Lucie Safarova of the Czech
Republic during the French Open tennis tournament at the
Roland Garros stadium in Paris, France, in this June 1,

the highest-paid woman in sports, said on March 7, 2016
that she failed a drug test at the Australian Open due
to a substance she has been taking for 10 years for
health issues. Hours after the announcement, one of her
biggest sponsors, Nike Inc., said it had suspended its
relationship with her while the investigation continues,
cable news channel CNBC reported.
