To the people of Lincoln, Illinois –

I was born and raised here in Lincoln. I attended both private and public schools, married and was co-owner with my husband Art of (Art's Truck and Auto) for over 25 years. I worked for Economy Fire and Casualty and then
St. Paul for 17 years as an adjuster. With that position, I learned to deal with conflict and became very good at mediating with individuals.

 I was given the honor of "Insurance Woman of the Year" in 1990. I served as an election judge for more than 10 years, I was an alderman for 13 years and was appointed mayor a little over a year ago.

There is no one that loves the city of Lincoln more than I do. I believe that a good mayor needs to have a variety of strengths. Experience is a valuable strength. I am knowledgeable about how the city is ran. I am skilled and accomplished in the sewer, street and alley as well as the insurance departments. I have sat in on contract negations and meet with department heads every Tuesday to keep aware of the issues. A good mayor also needs to have integrity, dedication, humility, openness, magnanimity, assertiveness and be fair and honest. I believe I have those qualities. With me, “what you see is what you get", If you ask me a question, I will give you the truthful answer. I have an open door policy with office hours from 2-4 every Tuesday and Thursday. If those times do not work I am willing to meet at a time that does work for you. I am here for the people to serve them. I don't believe that it's about being an eloquent speaker, it's about the words that come out when you are speaking. You will always get the truth from me as your mayor.

I would like to focus my administration on bringing people into Lincoln because it's a safe place to live and raise their children. I attend regular meetings with the police and fire departments as well as all agencies that focus on addition. By doing this, I can inform the people of Lincoln about strides being made within our city such as our new drug dog in training. Part of bringing people into Lincoln is working on economic development. The safer the city, the more businesses will want to build here and that means more jobs here. It’s all one big circle.

It’s been said that the youth are our future. This year I attended the LLCEO kickoff and as the city representative in support of the high school level entrepreneurial program intended to energize future economics and revitalize the community for future generations.

Our elderly need to be taken care of as well. They have a voice and their voice needs to be heard. I had the pleasure to meet with groups from Christian Village, Castle Manor and Timber Creek Village. Those people had a lot of great ideas and questions. I want every person from young to old to be involved with our community and to be considered in the city’s economic-based decision making.

This isn't something I want to do by myself. I know with your help, we can take care of our elderly, protect our children and help make Lincoln thrive.
