At
the Tuesday night meeting of the Mount
Pulaski City Council, Darrell Knauer
filled in as Mayor Pro Tem due to the
pending resignation of Mayor James Cole.
Cole tendered his resignation on Monday
contingent upon the city taking no legal
action against him after certain
allegation had been made against him.
The council met in executive session,
then returned to open session where
discussion of the mayoral situation was
on the agenda. Alderman Matt Bobbell
suggested tabling that discussion
pending advice from legal counsel. The
city has also hired a new city attorney,
Jordan T. Klein of Erickson, Davis,
Murphy & Walsh out of Decatur.

At
Tuesday night’s monthly Atlanta Township
meeting there were two agenda items that
drew a significant crowd. The township
board meetings are usually sparsely
attended by the public, but on Tuesday
night more than 80 people came out at
the Atlanta Park District Community
Center to voice their opinions.
Both agenda items concerned the
disposition of the Atlanta Cemetery
District.
