On Wednesday, April 18, 2018, a Logan County jury convicted
Anthony Rahn, of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony. The
jurors deliberated for approximately 1 hour before reaching the verdict.
Brad Hauge, Assistant State’s Attorney, presented evidence during the
two-day trial that in January and February of 2011 Rahn had multiple
sexual contacts at his residence with the victim, a family member. The
victim was younger than 18 years old. The Sangamon County Child Advocacy
Center with the assistance of the Lincoln Police Department investigated
the case.
Judge William Workman, who presided over the trial, set Rahn’s next
court appearance for 11:00 a.m. June 12, 2018 for post-trial motions and
sentencing.

“Not only was this victim abused by a person she thought she could
trust, but she persevered against him. I am impressed with the
strength and courage she showed in facing this defendant and saying
that what he did to her was wrong. This case should be a reminder to
the community that the vast majority of child sex crimes are
committed by people who know their victims and seek to exploit those
relationships,” Logan County State’s Attorney Jonathan Wright said.
“This type of offense is stopped when victims speak up and
responsible adults take action.”
