The 4-H night and Scrambles at the Logan County Fair is always a great time and draws families together.  Above, some of a dozen eight and nine-year-old youth planning to capture and halter a goat get a last words of encouragement.  Older 4-H exhibitors wage wits and whiles to capture a goat, greased pig or calf.  The youth receive training prior to these events.

And boy do the feathers fly when the six or seven year olds take to the field to catch a chicken.

Awards and 4-H Alumni activities also take place during the evening.

Tuesday, 4-H livestock shows kicked off with the smallest of animals, the rabbits and poultry. In the rabbit show, it was an all-girl event with four young women competing for top honors. Rose Catterson took home the plaque for the Grand Champion Rabbit. Pictured with Catterson are the 2020 fair royalty on their last day of duty.

From the left are 2020 Junior Miss Logan County Grace Carter, Miss Logan County Fair Faith Doerr, Catterson, and in front, Little Miss Logan County Aubrey Rogers.

On Tuesday, a long-standing family tradition continued at the Logan County Fair 4-H Poultry show. The children of Maxine Maxheimer presented several plaques in memory of their mother.

The annual awards started many years ago with a single plaque for the Grand Champion Chicken. This year winning that original award was Natalie Palmquist and her spunky tiny black chicken.

The "Maxine Maxheimer Memorial by her children" award was presented by Maxine's daughters Linda Ryan and Shirley Brittin. Maxheimer’s other children, Teresa Strampp and Dale Maxheimer, presented other awards in honor of their mother.
