Local advocate and
community leader, Aimee Galvin, today announced her Independent
candidacy for Ward 3 on the Lincoln City Council. Current Ward 3
Alderman Ron Keller is stepping down and Aimee Galvin seeks the
position in the April 6 election.

For the past two years, Aimee has
served on the City’s Historic Preservation Commission and has made
promoting Lincoln’s historic character a centerpiece of her
campaign.
“Lincoln’s strength is its long history and small town charm. I want
to build on the work the Council has done to promote downtown events
and businesses. Route 66 will celebrate its 100th anniversary in
2026, we should be looking at public/private partnerships to promote
tourism and find other regional, state, or national collaborations
the City can join to educate and promote the centennial
celebration.”
Galvin also proposes that the City conduct an audit of public
spaces, empty lots, and dilapidated buildings in order to explore
revitalization options that combine public and private dollars to
provide affordable housing and public green spaces like community
gardens, splash pads, or natural areas. She says all of this can be
done without breaking the City’s budget.
“My focus is on improving daily life for residents in Lincoln, but
never at the expense of a balanced budget. My projects rely on
public/private partnerships or a patchwork of state and federal
grants to ensure responsible and effective governance.”
Current Ward 3 Alderman Ron Keller is endorsing Galvin in her run.
“Aimee is an independent-minded and informed individual who loves
our community, and through her experience would bring a fresh
perspective to city government,” Keller said. “I would be honored to
have her succeed me on the city council and highly encourage the
residents of Ward 3 to vote for her. Our city will benefit from
Aimee’s knowledge, passion, enthusiasm, and commitment.” [to

“I am an Independent, and I’m
committed to meeting our community’s needs,” she said. “I want to
connect as neighbors and represent our community on this Council.”
Aimee works for the education non-profit organization Stand for
Children Illinois where she fights to ensure all Illinois students
have access to a first-class education. She is a leading advocate
for expanding career and technical courses to emphasize 21st century
job skills and early college credit. She earned her master’s degree
in political science from American University in Washington, DC and
bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana
Champaign.
A lifelong outdoor enthusiast, Aimee is a member of the Spoon River
North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association. She and her
husband, Keagan, are proud owners of a one-year old Spinone named
Vera, and enjoy working on their historic home on Pekin Street.
As an Independent Galvin will not appear on the February 26 primary
ballot but will appear on the Municipal General Election on April 6
ballot. In the meantime, Aimee (and Vera!) look forward to engaging
with the residents of Lincoln. [Text from file received]
