NOTICE FROM THE CITY OF LINCOLN STREET DEPARTMENT

Snow plowing operations will begin at approximately 5:00 PM This afternoon. Snow Route parking bans are in affect. Also as a reminder in the downtown area there is no parking from 2:00 AM to 5:00 AM. If you normally park on the Street in other areas please find alternative parking if at all possible so crews can clean the the entire street. Crews will start with Main routes outside of the downtown and then move into residential areas. Downtown will be done last. Crews may have to return to areas if needed. As always thank you for your cooperation.

NOTICE TO MOUNT PULASKI RESIDENTS

The Public Works department is requesting that for those of you who park on the streets, to PLEASE find an alternate place to park. That way we can effectively plow our streets and town square.

The time frame for snow plowing will be from 6 p.m. today, till 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Please spread the word.

WEATHER ALERT
Wind Chill Warning until Noon Monday

* WHAT...For the Wind Chill Warning, dangerously cold wind chills. Wind chills as low as 25 to 30 below zero. For the Winter Weather Advisory, snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Illinois.

* WHEN...For the Wind Chill Warning, until noon CST Monday. For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 6 PM Sunday to midnight CST Monday night.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LOGAN ... MENARD ... MASON ... CASS ... SANGAMON ... DE WITT ... SCOTT ... MORGAN

Instructions:  Avoid outside activities if possible. When outside, make sure you wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions for Illinois can be obtained on the Internet at www.gettingaroundillinois.com

Lincoln College’s Chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success will be collecting nearly new or gently used professional clothing and accessories now through February 26th for the NSLS Career Closet. The closet provides students with free professional and business-appropriate attire. Donations may be dropped off at the Lincoln College Bookstore on Davenport Street in Lincoln.

AREA DISPOSAL:  The City of Lincoln has been notified that Area Disposal will not be running routes on Monday due to the forecasted extreme cold conditions. As a result, all route pickups will be a day later this week.
