Throwback Thursday
In
2016, the third Thursday in February was also the 18th, just as it
is today. Looking back at the top picture in Lincoln Daily News on
that date, LDN found this picture taken by Angela Reiners at a
meeting of the Logan County Board. That night, the board lent its
support to the Logan County Veteran's Assistance Commission
formation. It's hard to believe that this valuable asset for our
local veterans has been running for five years.
The 2016 caption read: "At the Tuesday night meeting of the Logan
County Board, local veterans salute the American flag as local vocal
artist Lesleigh Bennett sings the National Anthem. The veterans were
present to support the vote by the county regarding the
establishment of a local Veterans Commission in Logan County. A
representative of Tim Butler's office also sent the Illinois
Representative's best regards for Logan County, now identified as a
Purple Heart County for its measures to assist veterans."
