We hear the same old cliches each
election season: that this particular season “is crucial” or “the
most important of our lifetimes,” or that we need to “save our
city/state/country.” To go that far would be extreme; however, the
City of Lincoln is at a crossroads for its future.
The COVID-19 pandemic has wrecked havoc on our world, our country,
and our city for more than a year now. However, Lincoln’s
hard-working elected officials, department heads, and all other city
employees have tirelessly devoted their energies to provide the best
services they can to Lincoln and the people who live here. Strong
leadership has also enabled the City Council to responsibly manage
its finances during the ongoing pandemic, creating a solid fiscal
footing for Lincoln while other municipalities struggle. Current
leadership also took steps to be proactive in providing aid to
businesses that have been hit hard during the pandemic.

As the current longest
consecutive-serving alderman in Lincoln, I have served Ward 4 for
more than a decade by being honest, open-minded to consider all
sides to an issue, and taking the best action I see fit for Lincoln.
We have had ups and downs, but an incredible mayor and City Council
have successfully guided Lincoln this far through one of the most
challenging struggles of our lifetimes. However, with your support,
I hope you choose experience and leadership to help Lincoln build on
the successes we’ve achieved so far – and continue making progress
on a better tomorrow.
Please be sure to cast your vote on February 23.
Yours Truly,
Jeff Hoinacki
