This
week, the Lincoln City Council approved expanding the residency
requirements for Lincoln police officers. Previously all city
officers were required to live within 15 miles of the city limits.
With the changes, officers may now live in Tazewell, Mason, McLean,
DeWitt, Macon, Sangamon, or Menard Counties. The change will permit
qualified applicants to seek employment in Lincoln without having to
relocate. The city will benefit because it will expand the potential
pool of officers available when positions need to be filled.
