Today, we begin the annual Paint the Paper Pink for breast cancer awareness campaign in Lincoln Daily News. It is the fifth year the paper has gone pink. We start with a picture of the gang at Collision Concepts every year. LDN credits Irv and Cindy Guyett and the late Roy Logan for bringing the idea to us in response to friends and family they had known who had battled not just breast cancer but all forms of the dreadful disease.

When we brought the idea to our readers and local businesses and organizations, the response that followed was overwhelming. Once again, this year, we will fill the top picture section daily with people who want all cancer warriors to know that they are loved and that we pray daily for a cure. But until that day comes, we hold you in our hearts and are here for you if you need us.

Illinois Senator and Logan County native Sally Turner hosted a Law Enforcement Advisory Council meeting in Lincoln on September 28th. One hot topic was the impending SAFE-T Act which becomes effective in January of 2023.

Local law enforcement agencies have expressed concern over eliminating cash bail, which is part of the Act. Illinois Sheriffs' Association Executive Director Jim Kaitschuk attended and led the discussion on those ongoing concerns.
