At the beginning of March LDN voiced an opinion that the month had “come in like a lamb” and according to the old wife’s tales it would then “go out like a lion.” Friday evening, March 31st, Mother Nature did her best to keep the tale true. Throughout the county and the central and southern regions of the state there were numerous storm warnings ranging from severe thunderstorms to tornado activity. Weather spotters were kept busy confirming conditions around the communities of Emden, Latham, Mt. Pulaski, and several others.

Thankfully in the county, there was damage reported in only a few isolated areas. While rain and wind passed through many communities, Latham reported structure damage and there were reports of damage to trees and in some areas hail. Then in the matter of a few minutes the sun was trying to shine, and rainbows were showing up around the county.

LDN reporter Angela Reiners caught one such sliver of a rainbow after the storm and sent it along so it could be shared with readers. While the storms may have been frightening, and some damage was done, there were no reports of injuries, and for that we are all thankful.
