The August
meeting of the Logan County Genealogical &
Historical Society featured a presentation
by member Gary Dobson on the influence of
Native American Tribes on Logan County and
Illinois History.
Dobson revealed many interesting but perhaps
little known facts about tribes in Logan
County and mounds that have yet to be
explored in our area.

The weekend is
approaching and many of us are looking forward to
turning eyes to the sky as we have the opportunity
to see 36 hot air balloons floating overhead.
To kick off the weekend that includes many great
offerings including the library book sale, Oasis
Vendor Market, Up in Smoke BBQ, live entertainment,
food trucks, dock dogs, and of course, flights and
glows, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony
downtown at the intersection of Kickapoo and Pulaski
Streets at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Please join us as we
celebrate the beginning of a great weekend in
Lincoln.
