In the week before Easter volunteers came together at the Lincoln Christian University Jessie C. Eury Library to box up approximately 30,000 books that would be shipped to Tavriski Christian Institute in Ukraine. In February of 2022 the Russian Army invaded Ukraine and soldiers occupied TCI. According to a representative who came to Lincoln from TCI the soldiers dragged the books from the library, created piles, set the piles on fire, then bulldozed over them.

For the local volunteers who came to help a day or more including LDN’s John & Karen Castelein, Angela Reiners, and Stephanie Hall, it was a bittersweet moment. The feeling of helping a Christian college in a war-torn country was good. The feeling of parting with yet another piece of our own University and their alma mater was heartbreaking.

Be sure to read the article by Hall in today’s edition of Lincoln Daily News.
