Charlotte M. Poe, 85, 0f
Springfield, formerly of Beason, passed away January
31, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday,
February 5, 2024, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral
Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
February 6, 2024, also at the funeral home. Burial
will follow in Chestnut cemetery.
Charlotte was born March 22, 1938, the daughter of
Joseph Howard Hunter and Martha Faye (Fletcher)
Hunter. She married Marlin Nelson Poe. He preceded
her in death in 1998.
She graduated from Beason High School class of 1956.
Charlotte was, at one time, a restaurant owner in
Lincoln, a grocery store owner in Kenney, and worked
as a retail clerk at Walmart. She enjoyed cooking,
gardening, reading, and puzzles. She was an avid
Chicago Cubs fan. She was a member of the Beason
Methodist Church, was a 4-H member and a 4-H leader
for her daughters and nieces. She led the neighbors
and friends 4-H group. |
Survivors include her sons Nelson Lee Poe and Norman Lynn Poe
(Nancy), her daughters JoEllen Poe Ackerman (Chris) and Nancy Lynette Poe Long
(Jay), grandchildren: Jonathon Poe, Norman Lynn Poe Jr., Christopher Nelson
Ackerman, Steven Todd Ackerman, Katie Long, and Jenna Long, great grandchildren:
Logan Hunter Ackerman, Kinsley Rae Ackerman, Isla Mae Ackerman, and Alexander
Poe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Bobby Joe
Hunter, and a sister Dixie Ingram.
Memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County or St.
Jude's Children's Hospital and will be
accepted at the funeral home.
