Obituary
Owen Glendon Arvin, 83, of
Lowpoint, passed away peacefully at his home on
February 1, 2024.
Owen was born on June 27, 1940, in Bloomington, IL.,
the son of Glendon Owen Arvin and Lola (Clesson)
Arvin. He married Judith Kay Scogin on June 8, 1962.
He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees and
joined ROTC at Bradley University, where he also
worked as a student instructor. Owen then proudly
served his country in the United States Air Force
stationed at Rantoul Air Force Base as a Minuteman
ICBM missile launch trainer.
After his military service, Owen worked doing
commercial appraisals and then shortly after became
an Operations Manager at Herschel Manufacturing Co.
in East Peoria, IL. He then worked for Bill Pfister
at Pfister’s International in Bloomington before
purchasing that business. He managed and owned
several implement dealerships. Owen then started his
own agricultural equipment business, Owen Arvin,
Inc., and others with the Case dealer in Bloomington
and Graff Implement in Minier, IL. Then he again
worked his own business selling real estate and
doing residential and commercial appraisals.

Owen enjoyed playing cards, attending Bradley basketball games,
and was an Oldsmobile enthusiast and member of the Oldsmobile Club of America.
He served as a long-time member and an elder at Carlock Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Judy Arvin, his sons
Kendrick (Jenny) Arvin, Kevin (Karen) Arvin, and Trent (Shannon) Arvin; ten
grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and his sister Judy Hart. He was
preceded in death by his parents, his son William "Lane" Arvin, brother John
"Larry” Arvin, and an infant granddaughter.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 17, at Carlock
Christian Church at 310 E Washington Rd., Carlock, IL 61725. A visitation is
scheduled at 11:00 am followed by a memorial service at noon.
Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. The
family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Vitas Hospice and Synergy
Home Care. Tribute donations may be made to Carlock Christian Church or
Alzheimer’s Association.
