In spite of the warm temperatures, the Humane Society of Logan County saw a large turnout at their annual Route 66 Garage Sale preview Night at the Logan County Fairgrounds. Once again this year, preview night game bargain hungry shoppers an opportunity to get a head start on the weekend of garage sales in Lincoln.

The yellow door barn at the south end of the fairgrounds was filled with great merchandise ready for grabbing. All the items in the sale have been donated to the HSLC and all the proceeds from the sale will go to support the work of the group as they strive to protect animals in their no-kill shelter in Lincoln, while hoping to find each one the perfect home.

Thursday evening the Lincoln and Logan County community turned out in force to show its support for the Logan Correctional Center. The evening began with a rally and march starting at the Logan County Courthouse on the south side lawn. A few hundred people then marched, chanting “What do we want?” “Logan CC!” “Where do we want it?” “Logan County.” The march ended at Lincoln Junior High School in the 200 block of Broadway in Lincoln. At the junior high, the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability hosted a public hearing. The junior high gymnasium was filled with people there to show support and speak to state officials about the strong desire and need to keep Logan Correctional Center in Logan County.

View the video of the march as it headed down Broadway Street to the Lincoln Junior High School

LDN’s Matt Boutcher was there for the entire night and will bring a complete report in a future edition of Lincoln Daily News.
